Painting Series:  Landscape References  (2006 - 2013) 

Although the source for this work is based in abstraction, references to the landscape and nature emerge in these paintings.  These are invented landscapes, with form and color becoming major concerns as the images are developed.  I am drawn to visual ideas that touch on nature and its processes, including the phenomenon of the moon's transformation and the transition of the seasons.

In working on the canvases, spontaneity allows for a diversity of color and form, as the image evolves.  An integral involvement with the medium of the paint builds the image.  Formal invention is at the core of this work.
