Drawing Series: Drawings of Pottery - (2017)
One aspect of drawing, for me, is the opportunity to observe something very closely in the process of rendering it. In this series I've focused on pottery pieces from a collection of ceramics that I've acquired over many years. While drawing each pot allows for a rigorous process of hard looking, I also take advantage of improvisation, utilizing the marks that can be made with both the pencil and the eraser. When possible, the titles reflect the maker of the pot in each drawing.
